Network
I cooperate with leading experts in their respective fields to provide my patients with optimal pre- and post-operative care in the event of surgery. My professional network includes endocrinologists, psychologists, internists, dietitians, sports therapists, pediatricians and adolescent psychologists in order to have holistic, comprehensive care of diseases.
Research
In addition to these close contacts, I put great emphasis on research, education and advanced training. My main research priorities include endocrine surgery, obesity surgery and surgical treatment of diabetes. Here an international context is also very important for me. As chairman of the scientific advisory board for bariatric surgery at IFSO (International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity and Metabolic Disorders), the global association for metabolic and bariatric surgery, I am an actively involved in an international platform working at the highest level toward development and steady improvement of surgical procedures covering obesity.
Besides my own continuing education, a great concern for me is the education and training of younger colleagues. I run a number of continuing education courses in minimally invasive and bariatric surgery with participants from inside and outside Austria attending (over 50 countries). In addition, I train other surgeons both in Austria and abroad (Master Class in Bariatric Surgery, Coach at IRCAD Strasbourg).
